I confirm. VDH just errors out on that video. Curiously, VDH offers 2 variants for it, but they both give errors.

I then opened the Hit Details on each variant. In the Hit Details, you'll find a URL for an MP4 directly. I opened each of those MP4s in separate Firefox tabs. For the first variant, the Firefox tab offered just a play button. Popping up the context menu on the play button offered nothing of any use. However, after actually clicking the play button, I popped up the context menu on the video while it was playing. The Save video as... option was available on the popup context menu. I did successfully download the video using that & it played fine in VLC, although I had to crank the volume way up to hear anything.

For the second variant, opening the URL from the Hit Details in its own tab showed the first frame of the video, not just a play button. Popping up the context menu on that, without even launching playback, gave the context menu with the Save video as... option. Once again, that downloaded the video, which played fine in VLC, although once again, I had to crank the volume way up.

So you have a workaround you can use until this gets fixed in VDH. I can't explain why VDH doesn't work on this. It's not behind DRM protection. It isn't even HLS or DASH. It's just a plain MP4. Couldn't be simpler. This is a mystery to me.

The mp4 file is a screen record of a download on the website failing around 100%. Having a look around on random videos
on Firefox reveals that CrunchyRoll uses DRM for content protection. It's never going to work for this site.
You'll just have to screen record like you did, however even in the recording the video did not show only the captions.

For it to be recorded by OBS you have to remove hardware acceleration in Google Chrome settings.
But it doesn't remove the player UI when recording while it could be clear if it was downloaded.
And mp4 is protected by Dash after seen detail.
