Downloaded videos from Streaming Site is blurred with artefacts and no sound

Hi,
when downloading form site "https://npo.nl/start/serie/zappbios/seizoen-11/uilenbal/afspelen", Video DownloadHelper resolves nicely the downloadable formats and Download actually works.
But then when playing downloaded file, in eg. VLC or ffplay, Video is blurred, smeary with artefacts and no sound.
When downloading with ffmpeg, it resovles many errors with the same result as described above.
When recording with a screen recorder, eg. Wondershare, there is finaly sound but just a black screen.

Bug or maybe a copy protection?

Thanks for any advice.
PS: site is located in Netherlands and only reachable with a VPN for Netherlands; I use ExpressVPN.

I do not work for VDH. I'm just another user.

I'm running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 24H2 build 26100.3194, Firefox 135.0.01 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.3.0.1, CoApp 2.0.20.

When I went to your page, I found a lot of videos I couldn't play. They showed either an error message saying just that the video couldn't be played, or they said I needed to get a premium subscription in order to play that particular item. That's not going to happen. I eventually stumbled on one that would play.

You can see in that image that the content is protected by DRM. This cannot be downloaded. DRM exists for the expressed purpose of preventing downloading, allegedly of copyrighted material. VDH has never, does not now, & will never download content protected by DRM. It would be illegal. Only illegal software can download this content.

However, it is not illegal to use a screen recorder to make a copy of this content. I do not wish to name or endorse any particular screen recorder. Do a web search for screen recorders & see if you can find one that can record this. Screen recording is always less desirable than downloading, but when the content is protected by DRM, that is pretty much your only option.

thanks for the hints. What I suspected, the movies on this side are copy protected.
I used a different screen recorder (with option "repair black screen", and it worked smoothly.
