<p>On Unix machines, you can use the Fortune format version of the
files to start your login session with a randomly selected quotation;
consult the man page for <code>fortune</code>(6) to learn how. I
don't know what programs are used under Windows or MacOS to display
random quotations, but am willing to convert the file to new formats;
please let me know what other formats should be supported.
(Alternatively, you could download a Python interpreter for your
system, and grab the Python scripts <code>strfile.py</code> and
<code>fortune.py</code> from my <a href="http://www.amk.ca/python/simple/">Simple
Scripts page</a>. They implement a simple version of the Unix
<code>fortune</code> program.)
<p>The XML versions are in QEL, the Quotation Exchange Language. For
technical information and software, consult the <a href="http://www.amk.ca/qel/">QEL
home page</a>.</p>
