Spurious system chiming sounds (related to restarting Hangout?) #492

I don't know exactly what is going on to cause this, but intermittently during a day of filming today (with Reeti), I kept hearing a little three tone (descending) chiming sound. I also occasionally heard a single "clang" sound. At first, I thought this might be Windows, so I turned off all Windows sound notifications, which I think made the clang go away, but the chiming tones still kept happening occasionally.

My best theory is that this has something to do with the Hangout app resetting itself. If there is a way in the API to turn off all Hangout sounds, that would be a good idea. We don't want the system chiming in the middle of the night.

I noticed for sure now that this 3-note chime (ascending and descending) is part of Google Hangout.
