$?.exitstatus can be sometimes nil, see: https://ruby-doc.org/core-2.5.0/Process/Status.html

Traceback form my code:

NoMethodError: undefined method `zero?' for nil:NilClass
File "/usr/local/bundle/gems/rails-latex-2.2.2/lib/rails-latex/latex_to_pdf.rb" line 85 in generate_pdf`
