You click download: (a) it starts a download... what is it downloading? what version? I don't know, (b) it brings you to this page https://www.anaconda.com/download-success.
If there was a frictionless apt package, my takeaway would be "wow, these guys are great at encapsulating software. they get it. maybe i should be using conda cloud."
However, the takeaway I get right now is, "all these hoops just to push marketing? the business people behind conda cloud seem sketch. this is guaranteed to enrage the linux persona"

Flatpak seems here to stay. Devtools and mainstream apps alike have adopted it: VS code, pycharm, sublime text, podman, slack, chrome, spotify, vlc, zoom, firefox, postman, discord, etc.
