When a user loses their keys they are screwed

Describe the solution you'd like

A user should be able to replace their identity commitment with a new one, while ensuring that they do not obtain multiple identities.

I have idea like Introduce a trusted recovery process where the user can prove their previous identity in some way (such as through social recovery, multi-signature schemes, or time-locked commitments).
or
Ensure that the user does not end up with multiple identities by leveraging zero-knowledge proofs or cryptographic attestations that prove the identity replacement is legitimate.
