Lifting a comment by @padraic-shafer from #619

I suggest revisiting the re-use of "user" for different meanings.

For type: "user" is synonymous with person (as opposed to a "service").

For role: Rather than "user" I think something like "consumer" (read access) and "creator" (write access) might be a clearer foil to "admin".
