We have received some complaints from ENG that the site is very slow. I have been digging through the site with query monitor and I noticed that several queries that the plugin performs are flagged as "slow" (over 0.5 seconds), or are flagged as duplicates.

I created a branch (1.2.11) for these performance updates to try and optimize certain aspects.
