If there are multiple applications with the same package but different names and a user gets a different application with that same package but that different name, the phone will continue to show the old name.
In case anyone comes across this, one way to remotely fix this is to disassociate all applications with that package from the device, ensure that the device successfully checks for updates which can be seen through the web front end, then re-associate them only with the application that contains the correct package and name.
