I hope that I am here in the right place.
I am using K-Lite Codec Pack Full version of MPC-HC for years now with MadVR as Video Renderer.

As of few days ago, MPC-HC keeps crashing as soon as I try to launch any video where MadVR is set as Video Renderer:

When I change the Video Renderer to MPC Video Renderer, then it doesn't crash:

I am using the latest K-Lite Full version:

Event Viewer shows the following entry every time the crash occurs:

I am on Windows 11:

Fresh reinstall of MPC-HC hadn't helped.

Extract this portable copy to a temp folder:
https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases/download/2.4.0/MPC-HC.2.4.0.x64.zip
This includes a crash reporter that can generate a stack trace. It should open a webpage when it crashes. Copy the link of the page here.

Did you perhaps do a graphics driver update around the time the problem started?
What is your GPU and current driver?

It crashed with the portable copy as well, but a webpage didn't open after the crash.

I got 4090 with latest drivers (installed on release). I'm positive that I didn't have the issue up until like 2, 3 days ago.

I had Windows Update (KB5051987) few days ago though. Maybe that could have been the issue?

Revert the windows update to see if that helps. If not, also try previous NVIDIA driver. I have seen lots of bug reports with 572.16 driver for a large number of games and apps.

Disabling hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in windows settings might also help. Win11 24H2 has a bug that can cause stuttering with Madvr if HAGS is enabled.

Maybe it's because of Win11 lmao?
Because I'm also using madvr + mpc-hc 2.4.0 + NVIDIA driver 572.16 and everything still be working perfectly without any issue. I'm still on Win10.

Yes, some madvr issues are win11 specific.
