I have configured linkhandler with certain record types and pageTreeMountPoints / storagePid, but the records are only shown if I give the user the rights that the page is mounted in the regular page tree. This is bad because I have to mount them pages in the page tree where they normally have nothing to do (e.g. they should have the possiblity to link to news but not to create/edit news)…

One solution is to use options.hideRecords.pages to hide that pages again from the page tree. But better would be if the pages must not be mounted.

I think there was something in the old linkhandler about using the alternative mount points that can be defined using TSconfig. I thought the pageTreeMountPoints would be enough, but obviously not.

Maybe it is this property: https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/TSconfigReference/UserTsconfig/Options/Index.html#pagetree-altelementbrowsermountpoints, but I am really unfamiliar with these options. I remember something about read-only mount points, but I can't seem to place it anymore. I don't know if this option still exists. Maybe you could ask in the community and try if it helps with linkhandler behaviour. If it does not but should, then we can fix linkhandler.
