I've seen some companies with "open source" projects without an actual open source license. #8

Legally, by default a project is not open source if it doesn't have a license stating so, despite being open. IMHO, we should keep this in mind too.

That's an excellent point, I'll have to go over everyone's repos again and double check if there is a license
