For the C examples an index would help

At present I am presented with example1.c etc so I have to wade through it all to find the example that shows what I am seeking

I was thinking the same recently. Perhaps we can rename the files so that they give a better descriptions of what's going on?

Renaming files is good, adding an index to the README.md for each API
folder would be good too.

I've updated the CPP section with an index, and I've renamed the files.
