[BUG] Software creates unwanted, annoying desktop icon on every update cycle

Every time the Software makes an update, there is a popup window asking "install" or "later" and each time it creates a desktop icon. I really don't want to delete the annoying icon every time.
Furthermore, there is no toggle to prevent updates from happening, as there should be. (or maybe it is hidden somewhere?!)

Please fix the icon bug.
