copy and paste / drag and drop not working PC server pc and mac clients

Hi Barrier Community - many thanks for putting this together.
I was using synergy, and for some reason it stopped working. Now, i found yours and am trying it out.
The mouse and keyboard across computers seems to respond.
I have a windows 10 'server' (my main laptop - carbon x1 2nd or 3rd gen) barrier 2.3.3 - seemed to get the macs to respond with 2.3.3 - 2.4.0 on the high sierra macs didn't load; and to the left a windows 10 laptop (carbon x1 2nd or 3rd gen; barrier 2.4.0), and to the left an older macbook pro? 2011 or 2012 with high sierra, barriers 2.3.3;, and below that a macbook 2014 model with big sur, barrier 2.3.3 ... so 3 computers on the left side - facing the screens.
to the right of the 'server' is another windows 10 laptop (carbon x1 2nd or 3rd gen; barrier 2.4.0)) and to the right of that a 2010 or 2011 older macbook - white with high sierra - barrier 2.3.3.
the 3 macs have barrier 2.3.3 and the 3 windows 10 have barrier 2.4.0

I played with versions a bit - and this combo 2.3.3 macs and 2.4.0 pc's, seems to work to get the keyboard and mouse working across all of them. for text copy and paste i can use control c and v on the pcs and the windows logo as a keyboard key to represent command for macs to copy and paste. so, that is fine.

but, i cannot copy and paste files across the clients from the server or from client to client, or client back to server - with pcs and/or macs

should i be able to do so with this software or is that not a feature?

i was using input director with only pc's and that function of copy and paste and drag and drop files worked.
i want to use the macs for school work (i work at a small preschool in culver city, ca - a great preschool, but resource (i.e., money) limited, so i try to look for projects like this software to use and give a try and donation to.

i'm not a heavy user or technical - its mostly to cut n paste across the platforms - text and documents until one day, its just 1 computer of each and all data is in the sky :>). then i might be more productive - although fiddling with things is fun - but i need to actually do some typing :>)

****can someone please help me figure out copy and paste of files as well as folders please? from server to client, client to server, and client to client if possible please.

i tried to click on always elevate in the pc's and right clicked on the barriers file properties to click on both dpi resolution adjustments in hope that that would help. i saw those as tips to try in other discussion threads

do i need 2.4.0 installed on them all?
will 2.4.0 work on high sierra?**
sorry so many questions and if its not too clear of a description.
i'm new to a lot of this but excited to learn.
