using it on kde plasma 6 for 2 days already, I recognize that Dialect is a very respectable app: simple, clean

  1. the only thing missing is to minimizing the application in the systray in order to access it more easily !

  2. and why not be able to launch it via a global shortcut in order to translate selected text Missing icon and name in top bar #57 ...

regards

PS: if I use dialect it is because the reference application on KDE (crow-translate) systematically gives me a crash problem even if it is ULTRA complete ... (is it because it is still in qt5?)

Sadly systray is out of scope IMO. Not a KDE user, but I guess that for easy access you can pin the app somewhere in your system.

Global shortcuts are planed but stall on waiting GNOME to implement support for the org.freedesktop.portal.GlobalShortcuts. For now you can create a shortcut manually to launch Dialect with the --selection CLI option.

the cmd dialect --selection doesn't work:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/dialect/dialect/window.py", line 532, in on_paste
text = clipboard.read_text_finish(result)
gi.repository.GLib.GError: g-io-error-quark: Impossible de lire depuis un presse-papiers vide. (1)

the app is launched but without text ....

@Cherkah Hmm, I think you're hitting #407. We need to make a release with that fix.
