I use GitHub's API to do this in fugitive:

CLI command implementation:

I appreciate that, but it's kinda moot now. I have an open issue to move bump
functionality into nimph, where we have complete git and GitHub APIs for
exploitation.

On the other hand, PRs are welcome! 😉
