Does Tycho Surefire maintains/generates bundles.info?

I'm trying to get some tests of an existing project running and it seems that something requires org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info to exists. Should this file be created by Tycho Surefire by default or is there some special settings needed?

For running with surefire the simple configuration should not be necessary. Tycho itself do not generate such a files, this is done as part of product assembly.

As mentioned it is not Tycho that generates/requires this file, so it is not really a Tycho issue as SimpleConfiguratior is not used with Tycho.

FWIW, I'm not looking at assigning blame to Tycho. I'm asking if anyone got that working. I know one can run Eclipse applications in self-hosted mode with a full p2 profile in order to test installations/updates. I am wondering if someone got it working with Tycho too (for example by adding a bunch of additional plug-ins with start levels/properties).

I think the problem actually needs to be fixed at P2Utils.findBundle(P2Utils.java:93) by either work in some way without the file being present, or accepting a system property so one could pass a different location you can supply with running your test.

The problem is even that JDT could try to work without p2, by using the OSGi/Equinox API to retrieve bundles location and derive some possible related paths to lookup.
