search box closes when i am typing fast

Steps to reproduce

1. Where are you starting? What can you see?
   i am inside the search box

2. What do you click?
   i clicked into "search" or pressed ctrl-k

3. More steps…
   then i start typing in a room or contact name

Outcome

What did you expect?

i expect that the search is running parallel to my typing, so typing speed is independent and i see a reduced list after stopping to typ

What happened instead?

i typ fast and the search box closes itself.
aaaand interesting fact: when i type single characters and wait until the search-while-typing finishes. it stays open and works. but if i let put a next character while search is going on, it closes. and my typing lands somewhere else inside element.

This only affects React development mode, e.g. local webpack, develop.element.io & Element Nightly.

Also affecting me with Element Nightly on macos. Glad to figure out why I kept sending one letter typos to rooms!

(cmd-k, start typing a room name at normal speed -> room search dialog disappears and focus returns to room message area)
