Wingpanel crashes on battery #249

Prerequisites

  • I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates.

Describe the bug

WingPanel stops responding when the notebook is using the battery. When the notebook is plugged in, everything works correctly.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Start elementary OS normaly.
  2. Unplug the notebook.
  3. Try to open something from the wingpanel (application menu, sound, notifications, etc).
  4. See error

Expected behavior

That WingPanel would continue to work properly.

Don't know where to get the logs.

  • I'm using the latest version from git that I've manually compiled
  • I'm using the latest released stable version

to get the logs run:

G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all wingpanel

and reproduce the crash

I experienced the same thing

This is the result when I run the command suggested by @rezk2ll.

I also can't access the shortcuts to open menus, etc.

If I reinstall wingpanel, this is the result.

purging and reinstalling for me didn't solve the problem, still experiencing crashes randomly when playing around with the indicators.

hmm, I think the problem I'm having is related to unhandled / unrestricted "stacked notifications".
I can confirm, my computer is running normally again!

I think elementary os needs to have a feature to limit notifications. To prevent massive notifications from the application (e.g. Discord, Telegram, etc)
