Just to start a discussion, I've been doing some experiments, as in some of the workshops I've given people have asked about similar things.
Here's what I think this should look like:
Following the Scratch metaphor, we add the ability to stamp the current "dress". Of course, to make this useful we need to be able to "wear" different dresses, for which my first idea was to let the beetle "pick up" all shapes currently rendered in the scene:
When you [pick up current objects], the Beetle "wears" the objects that are currently rendered in the scene, then you can stamp them around.
Just some food for thought... there are still some things I don't quite like, but I believe this would make people experience recursivity really quick. Imagine this:
