Having tried almost every photo dup app around, I was quite amazed at two, no, three, things about using AntiDupl - its accuracy,, its speed, and its really attractive ie easy to use and understand UI. It is just a joy to use.

And one possibly unheralded benefit is that, because of the very clear visual UI, the occasional false positives are very easy to see/notice (and manage).

And it is FREE. Giveme a break. ;-)

It is quite remarkable, and i speak as an IT professional, for let's say over 30 years. If you want to be more precise, my 1st (very expensive) PC for Uni study was a Toshy w twin 5" floppies, while the DSS where I worked had a 'Trash 80' w twin 8" floppies to run all the Dept's stats. I was a statistician and DB designer.

After all that palaver, what I was reminded of today while using is that in AntiDupl, there is no way to either RENAME or MOVE files listed in the dups list. BOTH of which are things you often want to do while checking through the dups list.

PLUS ... option to include or exclude sub-folders

Maybe there are other things I have come across, but i can't of any now apart from the above.

Hi dec-mail,

there is a rename / move possibility. If you right click on an image and select "Rename Image" you can move freely into a directory you like and change the filename. What I often use is, to move the picture to a location, where I have a similar picture, and then click the "Move and rename image to neighbour". Which does the trick and even puts a sequence number behind, so it won't be overwritten. That helped me tremendously.

Hope that helped a bit with your chores.

to add - inclusion and exclusion of folder / sub-folders or single images is also possible.

Sorry to ask: which version are you running?

Hi there.

Thank you for helful comments.

first, my vewrsion is latest.

two, i have found 'Rename' when you click on actual image, NOT when you click on image in LIST, which is where i was naturally looking. And i gather that is basically a combined rename/move function?

three, i see no option to simply 'Exclude/Include Subfolders' in Folder Selection: NOT explicitlu exclude individual Folders

four, i have not looked at 'Rename to neighbour'. Just WHAT is 'neighbour defined as?

five, see separate sm suggestion/s

and to repeat, what a wonderful app.

Image

kind regards
