As currently font embedding does not work, it is difficult to create PDFs that work across various devices.

Therefore I suggest adding support for the base 14 fonts that are specified by PDF.

The change would be small, but the benefit large.

I agree. It's definitely better than not seeing any text at all.

@eseifert Is there anything I/we can do to help push this forward? Trying to use this library in a research project to produce vector graphic graphs for publication.
