either as link to a logo file or as uploaded file. Could for example be used on the viewer detail page for each community.

I get the idea but I see a few problems here:

  • To ensure decentralization the images had to be hosted externally what adds a external dependency to the API.
  • Logos come in very different sizes, resolutions and even file-sizes what makes them not easy to handle.
  • Not all logos have a transparent/white background what makes them not beautiful to display in every context.
  • Do we really want to encourage every community to have their own logo (I know it's an old discussion)

I think a logo will be great. the "To ensure decentralization the images had to be hosted externally what adds a external dependency to the API." maptypes are the same...

may add details like transparent and size. it's nothing impossible. it even allow communities to link logos in different formats and if viewer you can simple pick a special format, if you want to add.
