This helper is amazing on Chrome OS (Crostini). Thank you! Before, I was regularly creating GitHub personal access tokens and copying them to the terminal. Now git push opens a GitHub tab in my browser.

If it helps anyone else, to install, download from https://github.com/microsoft/Git-Credential-Manager-Core/releases to Linux Files, then

sudo apt install ./gcmcore*.deb
git-credential-manager-core configure
git config --global credential.credentialStore cache
