Running XIVLauncher via steam Launches the steam copy of FFXIV even if you're not using the steam service for login #202

I'm experiencing an issue with my shared Steam family library & XIVLauncher. My partner and I play together, but she's purchased the game directly from Square whereas I purchased the game via Steam. She's added XIVLauncher to her Steam library as a non-Steam game to simplify launching it.

If she launches XIVLauncher outside of the Steam UI it does not claim the game from our Steam Family Library, but if launched via steam as a 3rd party game - it does. This blocks me from launching the game since there is only once license for FFXIV on our steam family account and steam refuses to launch FFXIV.

We're both running the latest version of XIVLauncher from the AUR.

I'm unsure if this is an XIVLauncher issue or Steam Family Sharing issue.

The solution is to disable steam integration in the launcher for the non-steam account. In XIVLauncher's settings, on the Game tab, there's a checkbox for Ignore Steam. Check it, and it'll no longer activate FFXIV.

You may instead choose to set launch options on the steam entry for XIVLauncher. You can set XL_APPID=123456 %command%, replacing that number with another game's appid in your steam library. To find a game's appid, just open the properties and check the updates tab. It may need to be an offline only game, I'm not 100% sure.

The second option is only really necessary if steam input is needed.
