option to not use touch sensing and/or lower color depth for faster framerate

using the 3.5 HAT screen with my pi because the screen is the same size as the pi and has just enough gap in between for some battery circuits. I want to use it as a portable gaming device but the framerate is an issue. it's tollerable for general purpose computing, but it's a little annoying for gaming.
