The port of the code tip from Googlecode should have:

java/lib/gdata-spreadsheet-3.0.jar

Your port has the obsolete 1.0 jar.

Managed to solve it by downloading the sample rar.
http://storage.googleapis.com/gdata-java-client-binaries/gdata-samples.java-1.47.1.zip

The latest version lib should be there.
