Describe the bug
Here (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1287/unite/) it says its incompatible.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install Ubuntu 23.10
  2. Go to https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1287/unite/
  3. See INCOMPATIBLE
  4. If I set gsettings set org.gnome.shell disable-extension-version-validation true i get error (see Logs section below)

Expected behavior
Its compatible and works

  • GNOME Shell version 45.1
  • Unite version:

Also installing via command line and logout/login installs the extension. But, chromium and kitty are still showing the top menu bar.

Thanks for the report, as you can see in the comments of the gnome extensions page, unite will not release new versions on gnome extensions.

For GNOME 45 you will have to download the extension from the releases and install it manually as described here.

Adding unite again in gnome extensions website has been asked in issue #353.
