What is the state of the v2_0_dev branch? #56

Hello,

I can see the v2_0_dev branch hasn't been touched since 2017, but I'm interested in the event handling changes made in it (I want to handle mouseover and clicking on a histogram bar). Am I better off looking at implementing my own event handling on top of the newer master branch, or trying out the v2_0_dev branch?
