Spacing of letter I and M

I'm not sure if this is simply a characteristic/quirk of the original Hershey lettering, but the spacing between the letter I and M seems... off. At least with the futural.jhf font.

As can be seen in the attachment, the spacing is fine when M proceeds I regardless of case (so, "mi", "Mi", "mI", "MI" all seem fine), but when the I proceeds the M, they are too close and sometimes even overprint.

Same issue with meteorology.jhf and probably others. Curious if anyone knows how to edit the .jhf file to adjust this spacing?
