where does function to make summary table get called from

Do you envision the function that creates the summary table of bird species seen to be called on the dataset before uploading, so input would be that dataframe you are already working on, or would it be a query from the database, so the input would be a tripid?

Hmmm...I'm not entirely sure. My gut reaction is that it should pull from the database, where an input argument would be tripid. What do you think?
