Fails to check downloads on boot for large libraries from single source

Steps to reproduce

Open app with library of 4000 entries or more

Expected behavior

Identify the presence of existing downloads, along with a banner stating that it's checking downloads.

Actual behavior

Behaves as though though none of the entries are downloaded. No 'checking downloads' banner on app launch.

Other details

Data is stored to SD card. This behaviour manifested earlier on Encrypted SD card, so imagine it has something to do with problems reading the folder (Timeout?)
