Hi.
I love your app - Thank you for your all your work.
In my house I have 2 (3) networks:

  • Network1 - Company router - With 2 networks: 2.4 GHz and 5GHz
  • Network2 - Mesh router

I have all my devices assigned with Static IP and listed on the app.

Everyday I receive alerts for "new device" that are already listed.
An example: I have my laptop connected to Network1. If I connect to the 5GHz network I receive an alert. If I change it to other room in the house (connecting to other Mesh module) I will get another alert.

Can anyone please help me?
Thanks.
Miguel (From Portugal)

Hi,

I assume this is caused by the devices generating a random Mac on your network. The devices are identified by Mac. If you have random Mac turned on on your device, you can disable it.

Hi there,

If the reports stopped getting sent for the phones after you changed this then a similar thing may be happening to other devices.

  1. Try researching the device if there is a setting to disable this behaviour. Laptops especially.
  2. If you still get unexpected notifications, you can surpress them at per this guide: https://github.com/jokob-sk/NetAlertX/blob/main/docs/NOTIFICATIONS.md
  3. If you still receive unexpected notifications, please post:
    • screenshot of the device before a notification
    • the notification itself
    • screenshot of the device after the notification

Thanks,
J
