The image that I "flashed" onto struggle device had the stock PS1, but I'm less confident in anything that that was doing at this point.
If your image has the prompt with gateway version, IP, and last MAC octet, then it's right.

It doesn't. I've never seen that work. I have no idea how to make it work in the default image.
