Problems with changing the current on the Growatt THOR_03AS

Hi!

First of all, sorry for any gramatic errors and for being not very familiar with Github and probably the correct way to go about things.

I am home some one can help me with fixing an issue i have.

I have a setup of Home Assistant 2023.2.5 Running this OCPP intergration, with my Growatt Thor 03AS connected to it.
Most things are working fine, I can start and stop the charging, but my big issue is that I cannot change the "Maximum Current".
When i try to move the slider from 16 and lower, it simply does not take effect.

I do realize that my charger is not on the supported list, and this is maybe the issue, but i hope that there is still a way to make this work, as it would be a big deal for me to make work.

I tried to see if i can find some logs, and there is 3 warning during start up the intergration.
I have tried to copy the logs and paste them here :

If i do change the maximum current via the chargers configuration website, then it does take effect, so it should be functional in some way, maybe ?

I hope anyone is able to help me or point me in the correct way to maybe solve this issue.

Please include the log when you try and change the maximum current.

Did you select the "Smart charging" option when you setup the integration? If not remove the integration, reinstall, select it and try changing the current again.

Thanks a lot for your reply! much appreciated!

You are right i did not set the "force smart charging" when adding the intergration.
I added it now and i can see the feature set now is "Profiles.SMART|CORE" instead of the default one before.

Now when i try to change the slider i get a pop up in HA bottom left saying "Failed to call service number/set_value. invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

Here is some logs, first the last entries just after trying to change the current, and then more logs filtered on ocpp.

I hope there is something useful in there :)

Looks like an issue with your charger [{"key":"ChargeProfileMaxStackLevel","value":"","readonly":false}]}] the "value" should be an integer eg 2. You'll need to raise it with the manufacturer or look at creating your own workaround in the code.

You could also try setting the key value to say 2 using the ocpp.configure service, probably a long shot though that it will work.

I do not think that i can get Growatt (The manufacturer) to work on this, they are always very hard to get any support from.

And as i am a novice with programming/coding etc, i am not sure how i could try and change this key value to "2".
Would it be somewhere in the files of the ocpp in home assistant ?

Hi again.

I have been working on this, and making some progress.
When i change :

replace stack_level = int(resp)
with
stack_level = int(2)

in line 581 of api.py then the entity in home assistant "number.charger_maximum_current" does update, and not just stick to 16 A.

So far so good, but it does not actually change the amount of A that the charger is charging with, as can be seen in entity "sensor.charger_current_import".
This sticks to 16 A.
So it seems that the "Maximum Current" Control points to something incorrect.

If i access my chargers internal website on port 8080, then there is a value that i can change for "Max Output Current Set(6~32A):" which does take effect when updated to a new current target.
But it is not this target that the "Maximum Current" Control point is changing.

This is now what the log says when i change the maximum current slider in home assistant:

The highest stack level overrides any below it, so now you've confirmed it works at 2 you need to find the highest level it will accept by trial and error.

I have tried now to increase the stack level one by one from 2 to 14, but it has the same result as at level 2.
I unfourtantely do not understand how to manually set the chagingrate unite and limit:10 :(

I think maybe there is a misunderstanding.
My problem is that when i change the "maximum current" funtion via ocpp in home assistant, then it does not update the corresponding function of "max output current set" in my ev charger.
It does now update it just home assistant since i changed the stack level, but it has no effect on the charger, as if these two functions are not linked correctly togther.
So now when changing the max current via home assistant, my charger still continues on at the level og 16A as it is set in the charger.
I can go into the chargers own website, and change the max current there, and it does change, but the idea was to be able to change it via home assistant so i can automate it to match my surplus from my solar panels.

Again i am sorry but i am not a programmer/developer my self, but i try my best :)

I figured out how to set power using curl shell command and I made buttons for 6, 10 and 16 Amps. But I cannot see result. For this, i need to login to web interface and read it on website :D

I tested it last year, but the results was not satisfying.. so i decided to change wallbox.
Aldo because mine was not able to access from the web browser, i think it has Also some internal problem 😅

But if you see in the home assistant log it can help you to find the error

Nah, I am giving up. Curl commands works, but I see power only when it´s charging. Integrated 7/10 :-D

What wallbox did you buy? I looked for a LIDL Ultimate speed 11kw wallbox, it uses modbus protocol. So I think that integration will bee pretty ez.

I bouth silla prism solar. I have integrated with mqtt, the feeling is that it was developed the first time by an outsider and maintained without then being continued in development.
I also dont like the webapp (silla cloud), it doesnt always work... I will not buy silla prism again for sure
