For some reason, to set the 'sourceDirectory', you must set sourceDirectory in (Compile, paradox) := ... (aka Compile / paradox / sourceDirectory := ...).

It would be nicer if it was sufficient to set paradox / sourceDirectory

This is not universally true. There are builds out there that say Paradox / sourceDirectory := ... (uppercase P) and it works. Just not mine for whatever reason.
