Copy coloured text and backgrounds to clipboard

A picture says a thousand words... this is 'Yori' (which is unfortunately Windows only)....

But imagine it's the MATE Terminal and a word processor like AbiWord or LibreOffice Writer

I'm aware of things like aha but you need to pipe the data and then open a file.

This feature request is for the ability to directly copy and paste with colour information somehow preserved, just like as seen in the animation above.

Even if it means representing/converting the ANSI colour data (at the time it is being stored in the clipboard) into something appropriate for other applications to easily understanding the colours you'd be pasting.
