# rose-suite.conf
[jinja2:suite.rc]
FOO=1
BAR=1
# meta/rose_meta.conf
[jinja2:suite.rc=FOO]
fail-if=jinja2:suite.rc=FOO == 1 and jinja2:suite.rc=BAR == 1

[jinja2:suite.rc=BAR]
$ rose metadata-check -C meta/
$ rose macro -V
[V] metomi.rose.macros.DefaultValidators: issues: 1
    jinja2:suite.rc=FOO=1
        failed because: jinja2:suite.rc=FOO == 1 and jinja2:suite.rc=BAR == 1

Now, take this same example and s/jinja2:suite.rc/template variables:

$ rose metadata-check -C meta/
[V] rose.metadata_check.MetadataChecker: issues: 1
    template variables=FOO=fail-if=template variables=FOO == 1 and template variables=BAR == 1
        Not found: variables=BAR, variables=FOO

Rose doesn't like the space in template variables 😢

The best thing I can think of is a nasty hack to internally replace template variables with template_variables.
