We received the below email from [email protected] in December. I've replied with questions for clarification but received no response.
My questions are:
Is there a more exact date than 'early 2025'? How will we know when the changes have been rolled out?
As an organisation based outside the territories mentioned (EEA, UK and Switzerland), but with some users who incidentally access our site from within those territories:
If we do not implement the required changes by the rollout date, how will Clarity behave for users in those territories?
Will there be any change to tracking behavior for users outside those territories? Or will Clarity continue to behave as normal for users of our site outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland?
Thanks for your response. Let me know if I can clarify any of our questions.
Cookie Consent Requirements for Microsoft Clarity Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
We’re reaching out to assist our users in complying with applicable terms of service, regulations, and industry standards around data collection and tracking activities.
Clarity and Cookies
Clarity relies on cookies to connect page views into sessions, which are critical for many of Clarity’s features. Clarity is transitioning to requiring explicit consent signals for cookies in these markets.
What Does This Mean for You?
Action Required: you will need to call the Clarity Consent API to collect and manage user consent for any sessions that are coming from the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Rollout Status: we will enforce this requirement across the European region by early 2025. Please perform the necessary action above to minimize impact to your site
