On my mac, the file location for theme/extensions was .../Chrome/Profile 1/Extensions instead of .../Chrome/Default/Extensions

I don't know if they've changed it to be this format or if it was just for me because I have a guest profile enabled

Thanks for the info. I still have mine in Default but I'd guess that you're right that it's the Guest mode doing that. When I start a Guest Chrome session I get a new directory 'Guest Profile' which wasn't there a few minutes ago, but no 'Profile 1'. Were you able to edit your default theme in 'Profile 1'?

Yep, it had all the images and the manifest.json.
