I'll try to keep this list relatively up to date, but some possible student projects include:

DESI

Help develop a spectral viewer (see, e.g., https://github.com/sbailey/prospect)
Simulate spectroscopic lenses.
Develop photometric redshifts for emission line galaxies.
Fast spectral synthesis modeling of DESI spectra.
Build and refine spectral templates / archetypes for redshift fitting & classification.

Galaxy evolution

Build and vet wide-field mosaics of large galaxies.
SED modeling of a surface brightness limited sample of galaxies.
