When using the ore ranks and a texture pack with, say 128x128, the rank icon is not scaled down.

Repro when using ore ranks and some higher resolution textueres like sharpik's or drummyfish's. In those cases the rank icon is displayed as large as an eigth of my screen.

i heard that once before, do you know by chance how the hud-scaling works? ;)

As far as I was told, there's no scaling for text. For images there's a scale thingy, I assume you want this part:

Negative values represent that percentage of the screen it
should take; e.g. x=-100 means 100% (width).

But I never tried it myself, so I can't tell if it works :P

I tried it, the - sign does in fact scale the image into proportion, but only depending on the window size. So on a fullscreen on a 16x9 monitor it might look square-y, if we put x= -9/3 y=-16/3, but as soon as someone had another window size ratio, like 4x3, it would not look square-y anymore.
