Issue type

UI bug (incorrect info or interface appearance)

Description with steps to reproduce

Steps

  1. Go to Preferences.
  2. Switch to another language (it's recommended to switch to a language without the Latin alphabet so that it's more obvious, such as Chinese and Japanese).

Expected behaviour

Localized translation makes it easier to use.

The actual behaviour

You can see that some of the translatable text is not displayed in the chosen language, but in English. You have to use translation software to translate.

What is the latest version of MuseScore Studio where this issue is present?

OS: Windows 11 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.4.4-243461245, revision: github-musescore-musescore-2232670

Regression

Yes, this used to work in MuseScore 3.x and now is broken

Operating system

Windows 11 x64

Additional context

Comparison
Examples are given in four languages (simplified Chinese, French, Hebrew and Japanese).

  1. In this interface, the vast majority of languages are represented in English (although they can be translated).

  2. The same is true of preferences. However, some languages provide complete translations.

  3. Palettes.

  4. I think hovering over it should show the translation (or name, role, etc.), not the original string.

  5. Rummaging through garbage is one of the ways to waste time.

  6. But it is clear that many languages have been translated.

In fact, in Musescore 3.6.2.548021803, this is still in English. However, everything else has been fully translated.

in Mu4 after changing the language you have to restart MuseScore to (fully) see the new language. This can indeed be seen as a regression vs. Mu3 (I do see it that way), but the dialog tells you about this "(Restart required"), so it is currently by design (unfortunately).

Maybe it's me? Restarting doesn't work much either.

Tried reverting to factory settings?
Sure that the translation for those languages are complet?
Templates are note translated, that is a know issue, that arpeggios and glissando palette is known too, there reverting to factory settings helps
Issues with Hebrew and Arab being mixed up is known too

Check #25689 for the palettes names not being in the right translation.
Check #14900 for the untranslated strings in the Create from Template wizard.
Check #24287 for the Hebrew and Arab issue.
Check #20766 for the "Arpeggios & glissandi" and "Fingering" palettes translation.

I can't find a report for the Audio & MIDI string in the Preferences panel, though.
