Redundant file move feature

I have noticed that when trying to move files from one directory to another directory's sub-directory that when in the directory tree or pane view in the file areas that when dragging the file to the directory one wishes to open to be able to select the sub-directory that the directory does not open to allow this. In finder it works fine.
