If the 12V supply voltage is not clean and has strong voltage peaks (app. 3...4V), interference can occur when using the touch keys. The touch gestures are recognized incorrectly or the keys are triggered repeatedly or independently. Under certain circumstances, a complete reset can also be triggered.

However, voltage drifts and lower or higher voltage values than 12V are not critical. The MFD can work with voltages of 8...30V.

The extreme steep-edged interference voltages mess up the DC/DC converter on the circuit board. It cannot compensate for the short voltage fluctuations quickly enough and the voltage regulation fails.
