Chapter 14:

Simulating Opportunistic Networks with OMNeT++

Opportunistic Networks (OppNets) are defined as "the set of applications and services running on end-user devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets and similar digital devices) that use direct communication opportunities to exchange information with each other". They are generally motivated on one side from human gossiping and on the other side from unavailability of traditional infrastructure-based communications. Our work introduces OPS (Opportunistic Protocol Simulator) based on OMNeT++.
