Something feels a bit off to have the plus for adding a new track at the bottom right. My gut really, really wants it at the upper right.

Take that for what it's worth. :)

I was talking to a few people and they wondered if it was necessary to have that button at all. Thoughts on that?

You and I know Mac app convention means you just drop a file an it will go, but I have been surprised at the number of people who don't know that.

There is always a trade-off between amazing minimalist design that relies on the user being a little advanced and just being explicit in the interface.

I'd say the question is less about what I think (I always prefer to hide as much interface as possible) and more a question of whether the average Mac App Store user who installs it will know how to play another song in Perpetual.

Great point. From what I've seen, most "open" or "add" buttons are in the bottom left. Maybe it's just a matter of switching up the icon. I'll give this some thought.
