We noticed that backgroundStrain only allows an array of 1-2. I see that you are intending people to just supply the background strain that explains the majority of the genetic background, but what if there is a case with multiple crosses where someone wants to list more than two backgrounds?
Perhaps in rodent research describing 1-2 backgrounds is sufficient? Or is there another way to supply this information in openMinds?

@andreagaede thank you for raising the issue. If you can point us to a common way how this is handled in your community (which is? I assume not rodent research) we can reconsider this setting in the schema. Since I'm not an expert in this particular field could you explain how more than two background strains are possible for creating one new strain?
